Day Five: Marriage Has Not Been Destroyed
So The Supreme Court of The United States did a thing. And imagine that? Five days later, I am happy to report that Virginia has no devolved into a giant sex orgy where Teh Evehl Gahyes are preying on heterosexuals and that most of the “traditional” marriages I know are still bullshit shams like they always were.
Seems, the world did not end. Unless you’re one of the many key Republican ticket candidates who seem to think ignoring the law of the land is completely cool. Which by the way…it is not.
So where do I stand?
Right here next to this guy:
“The principle complaint that people have is that I am equating the gay struggle with the contribution and sacrifice of American servicemen,” he said. “But there is no equal sign here. This is not meant as a sign of disrespect. For God sake, no. I totally support people in uniform. There is no comparison going on here. The comparison is going on in people’s heads, and they’re spoiling for a fight. They’re already on edge because of the gay marriage decision.” ~ Ed Freeman
You see…when the time comes and God, if you believe, judges you….he’s going to judge you based on the quality of your character. Spewing hate and crying like a spoilt five year-old does not reflect a good character. Nor does racism, sexism or bigotry of any sort. We are alone on this rock and if you are no human enough to be empathic and understanding towards others who are different from you…you are wasting the few resources we have on this rock.
Equality for everyone is paramount to your individual religious beliefs, you don’t get to shun the 14th Amendment because it wasn’t written to protect only the way *YOU* see the world. That is not what America is about, and you can bet your ass, that I believe we are better than this trite bullshit.
Open up the book you beat us with again, read it off once sentence at a time. (Daughtry) Paying special attention to the red letters. Your intolerance is a reflection of your own soul, not the soul of you supposed God & Savoir. Your intolerance is a reflection of your fears, and there’s nothing I hate more than people who are so afraid of other humans that they lash out and hide behind books written a millennia ago and edited by opportunistic arse-holes to suit their needs, to justify their worthlessness as a human being.
Man the fuck up America, the whole mother-fucking world IS watching and every-time you let people like Ted Cruz speak for you, the world takes you far less seriously.
